CHAMPS/DSC (course)

CHAMPS for grades K–8 and DSC (Discipline in the Secondary Classroom) for grades 9–12 are proactive, positive, and instructional approaches to classroom management. This six-session covers everything in the one-day workshop as well as refining and clarifying procedures for:

• Beginning and ending routines
• Guidelines for Success and rules
• Physical arrangement of the classroom
• Teaching expectations for transitions and instructional activities
• Using an effective attention signal
• Interacting positively with students
• Using a variety of motivational strategies to boost engagement and prompt responsible behavior
• Delivering corrective feedback
• Implementing a range of corrective consequences
