DR. JUSTYN PATTERSON

Dr. Justyn Patterson, Director of the UCLA Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) and UCLA BruinCorps, has over 20 years of experience leading and developing programs that increase college-going rates for underrepresented, low-income, and first-generation college-going students.

Both his programs and his research advance a social justice mission centered on empowering students, families, and communities. Each year, Dr. Patterson’s programs serve over 10,000 K-12 students attending schools in Los Angeles, Inglewood, Pasadena, and the Antelope Valley. He is a two-time Bruin alum, earning his B.A. in Economics and his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership where he studied the educational resilience of African-American students.

In addition to leading his programs, he also teaches the Community Service-Learning for Academic Achievement in the UCLA School of Education, where he prepares undergraduates for work in the education field. Dr. Patterson is a Gallup-certified strengths coach who believes that in order for individuals to reach their full potential, they should be aware of and utilize their unique set of strengths and talents.
