RANDY SPRICK'S SAFE & CIVIL SCHOOLS NEWSLETTER
August 2005

----------------------------------------------------------------------

BEHAVIORAL TIP FROM RANDY SPRICK

Prior to the start of a new year, prepare to effectively manage and motivate students. Develop a clear vision of what you want your classroom to be like-what it should look like, what it should sound like, what it should feel like, what you want your students to accomplish over the coming year, etc. Start by focusing on two things:

  • Long-range classroom goals

Identify several major goals (instructional and behavioral) that you want to accomplish with all of your students by the end of the year.

  • Positive expectations

Develop or review procedures for conveying high positive expectations for the success of all your students.
